Why we use Cloud66 to launch Ruby on Rails apps

We switched from Heroku to Cloud66, and we’re really happy about it.

Jan 22, 2016

We love Ruby on Rails applications, but sometimes they can be a real pain to deploy if you’re starting from scratch.

We’ve tried a number of services including Heroku, Shelly Cloud, and creating a build process from scratch. The problem with Heroku and services like it is that they often restrict you to a specific server (AWS for example). This often gets expensive and doesn’t allow for any big server customizations when you want it. With Cloud66 you can choose to use a number of cloud computing companys including Digital Ocean or Linode, which are far more affordable and (arguably) more performant and reliable.
