We switched from Heroku to Cloud66, and we’re really happy about it.

We love Ruby on Rails applications, but sometimes they can be a real pain to deploy if you’re starting from scratch.
We’ve tried a number of services including Heroku, Shelly Cloud, and creating a build process from scratch. The problem with Heroku and services like it is that they often restrict you to a specific server (AWS for example). This often gets expensive and doesn’t allow for any big server customizations when you want it. With Cloud66 you can choose to use a number of cloud computing companys including Digital Ocean or Linode, which are far more affordable and (arguagbly) more performant and reliable.
